The Nationals Member for Riverina, Kay Hull, today issued a word of warning to anyone looking at taking up the Government’s Insulation rebate offer.
“While I certainly encourage householders to see if they are eligible for the rebate please be aware that the rebate will only be paid if the installer of the insulation is registered on the Government’s Installer Provider Register,” Mrs. Hull said.
The insulation rebate is available through the Homeowner Insulation Program ($1600) and the Low Emission Assistance Plan for Renters ($1000).
“What is concerning is that as of 2 July there were only 13 registered installers in the Riverina; 6 in Wagga Wagga, 2 in Griffith and Temora, and 1 in Gundagai, West Wyalong and Yenda.
“Hopefully more will register in the Riverina as quite a few of our towns do not have a registered provider.
“Obviously if some of our towns do not have a registered provider there will be some considerable issues with accessing the program. I am hoping that local tradespeople, who are qualified, will apply to be a registered installer. Please go to
www.environment.gov.au/insulation-installers for further information on how to register.
“If any tradesmen are having difficulties registering on the Government’s Installer Provider Register please contact my office on 6921 4600.
