The study undertaken by the Commission focused on finding other options for the Government to purchase water entitlements, as well as impediments to current purchase methods. The draft report outlines the findings of this study.
Organisations and individuals are invited to examine this report and make written submissions to the Productivity Commission by 12 February 2010.
“I urge communities and Council Representatives to make submissions to ensure their voices are heard,” Mrs. Hull said.
“Riverina communities face a great threat from the Government’s Buy Back Scheme.
“I have been relentless in lobbying the Government to conduct a social and economic impact study on local communities as a result of the scheme,” Mrs. Hull said.
