The area to the east of the Hume Highway, but still within the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area is part of three Exceptional Circumstance (EC) areas, differentiated by three former Rural Lands Protection Board (RLPS) areas. The Tarcutta township, formerly part of the Wagga Wagga RLPB, is part of the South West Slopes and Plains Exceptional Circumstances area, which has had its EC status extended until March, 2011. Humula and surrounds, formerly part of the Hume RLPB, will have its EC status cease on 31 March, 2010. The small area to the east of Humula, but still bound by the Wagga Wagga LGA, has had its EC status extended as part of the Gundagai EC area until March 2011.
Mrs. Hull said the layout and changes to the EC areas are extremely perplexing and has caused a great deal of confusion.
“I am working to have the NSW Minister for Agriculture agree to ask the National Rural Advisory Council to reassess Humula and surrounds to consider extending their Exceptional Circumstances,” Mrs. Hull said.
