The Nationals Member for Riverina, Kay Hull, has welcomed the announcement the Schizophrenia Fellowship in Wagga Wagga will receive $1.4 million to continue its work in community mental health services.
The funding will be used to continue their Personal Helpers and Mentors (PHaMs) program which allows people to access help for mental illness.
“Access to adequate mental health care here in Wagga Wagga and the Riverina is below acceptable standards, so I welcome the funding.
“I am absolutely aware there are many individuals and families in the Riverina who are frustrated beyond belief at the lack of access they have to mental health care.
“This funding will not fix all these problems, but I am pleased the Government has acknowledged the need for funding into mental health,” Mrs. Hull said.
